HintMint
Key Features

Undetectability

HintMint is designed to be completely invisible to other meeting participants. No bots join your call, no one gets notified, and nothing appears on screen share.

How HintMint Stays Invisible

Unlike other meeting assistants that join calls as visible bot participants, HintMint runs entirely on your local machine. It captures audio from your system output and processes everything locally -- no external connections, no meeting integrations, and no footprint in the meeting itself.

  • No bot joins your meeting -- HintMint never appears in the participant list
  • No notifications sent -- other participants receive zero alerts about HintMint
  • Screen-share safe -- the overlay uses a special compositing layer invisible to screen capture
  • No meeting platform integration required -- works with any platform without plugins or permissions
  • No recording indicators -- HintMint does not trigger recording banners in Zoom, Teams, or Meet

How HintMint Differs from Competitors

Most meeting AI tools work by joining your call as a bot participant. This immediately alerts everyone in the meeting that an AI is present, which can change the dynamic of the conversation and create discomfort.

Traditional Meeting Bots

  • Join as a visible participant with a name like 'AI Notetaker'
  • Trigger recording consent banners in the meeting platform
  • Appear in the participant list for everyone to see
  • Require meeting host permissions or calendar access to join
  • Send audio to third-party cloud servers for processing

HintMint's Approach

  • Runs silently as a desktop application on your machine
  • Captures system audio output -- the same audio your speakers play
  • Processes everything locally with our proprietary LLM
  • Requires no meeting platform permissions or integrations
  • Leaves absolutely no trace in the meeting for other participants
HintMint works on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex, and any other platform that plays audio through your system speakers. No setup or configuration per platform is needed.

Technical Approach

HintMint's undetectability is built into its architecture from the ground up, not bolted on as an afterthought.

Local Processing

All transcription, speaker identification, and AI analysis runs entirely on your device. HintMint uses a proprietary, locally-deployed LLM optimized for meeting intelligence. Your audio never leaves your machine, and no third-party AI services are involved.

System Audio Capture

Instead of injecting itself into the meeting platform, HintMint listens to your system's audio output -- the same audio stream that drives your speakers or headphones. This means it works with any meeting platform without needing API access, browser extensions, or special permissions.

Overlay Compositing

The HintMint overlay is rendered on a special OS-level compositing layer that sits above your screen content but is excluded from screen capture APIs. When you share your screen in a meeting, the overlay is automatically hidden from the shared output while remaining visible to you.

You can verify the overlay is screen-share safe at any time by starting a screen share preview in your meeting platform. The HintMint overlay will not appear in the preview.

Best Practices

While HintMint is designed to be invisible by default, following these best practices ensures the smoothest experience.

1

Test before your first meeting

Run a quick test call to confirm audio capture is working and the overlay behaves as expected on your screen setup.

2

Use headphones when possible

Headphones eliminate echo and improve speaker identification accuracy. HintMint captures system audio regardless, but headphones provide cleaner separation.

3

Keep the overlay in a consistent position

Place the overlay where it does not overlap with your webcam feed or content you frequently share. This helps you glance at insights naturally during calls.

4

Verify screen-share safety

Before important meetings, do a quick screen-share test to confirm the overlay is invisible in the shared output. This is especially useful after OS updates.

5

Review your audio source settings

If you switch between headphones and speakers, check that HintMint is still capturing the correct audio output in Settings > Audio.

After major operating system updates, verify that the overlay compositing layer is still excluded from screen capture. This is rare, but worth checking before critical meetings.
